Hikers who take Barr Trail take 8 to 14 hours to reach the peak, so those who are fit can complete the ascent in a day. However, there’s a camp — Barr Camp — at the halfway point where hikers can stop for the night.

Crags Trail is shorter, only six miles up and down, but it doesn’t get to the peak. Those who want to explore the mountain but don’t want to go all the way can take this trail. In winter, this transforms into a great skiing trail.

But, tourists don't have to hike for hours, they can also ride the Pikes Peak Cog train to the top. The 9-mile train ride offers riders spectacular views all the way to Pikes Peak summit.
