Manitou Springsis a small Colorado town that has always marched to the beat of its own drum – with countless attractions and ample things to do year round. From its historic architecture and thriving arts district to its diverse shops and family-friendly arcade, Manitou Springs is a town that can’t wait to welcome you with open arms. Free shuttles run daily all around town and there are several parking areas located just steps (or ashuttle ride) from the action.

A town with so much flair can’t help but be a beacon for the arts, and Manitou Springs is no exception. Galleriesfeaturing local art are located throughout the town and there’s always a new show or art class to be found. Once a month, you’ll also be treated to art walks featuring hundreds of works, live music and art-related activities.

Manitou Springs is also home to a thriving health and wellness scene where visitors can choose from classes, mineral water soaking tubs, enlightening meditation retreats and more. Pick up a free cup and a map at theChamber of Commerceand take yourself on a self-guided tour of thenatural springsthat have made the town famous since the 1870s. Each spring offers unique minerals and has its own flavor.

The Manitou Springsfood sceneoffers upscale dining, ethnic cuisine, American favorites and tasty quick-serve establishments all in walking distance from any starting point in town. Outdoor enthusiasts can hike the trails behind the town and enjoy panoramic views of the Pikes Peak region. For those who want a true challenge, theManitou Springs Inclineoffers a challenging climb that ascends 2,000 feet in elevation using a mile of railroad ties.

Like the town itself, the yearlyevent scheduleis exciting, filled with variety and suited for everyone. TheEmma Crawford Memorial Coffin Racesis a standout, with participants racing decorative coffins down the main drag to the cheers of onlookers in October. Other fun events include an annual fruitcake toss in January, a community ice cream social and pie baking contest in July, the Pikes Peak Ascent and Marathon in August, monthly art walks, summer concerts in Soda Springs Park, ghost tours, beer festivals, wine tours and so much more.

How far is Manitou Springs from Colorado Springs?

Manitou is just west of Colorado Springs, about 6 miles from one downtown to the other. Plan on about 10-15 minutes for the drive, depending on traffic.

What’s the weather like?

Being tucked up against the mountains and a slightly higher elevation, Manitou Springs enjoys pretty mild weather year around. The highs in the summer average around 85 degrees, and though there are cold, snowy winter days, there are many beautiful, sunny 50 and even 60 degree days.

What's the nightlife like?

Manitou is a great place to spend an evening out. There are over 20 locally-owned restaurants, ranging from locally-sourced vegetarian, to one of the best burgers you’ll ever have. Enjoy Mexican, Middle Eastern, Italian or good old meat and potatoes. The bars and pubs have just as much variety, whether you’re looking for a place to belly-up, or wine replete with sommelier.

What is there for kids to do?

You have to check out the Penny Arcade, for both the kids and your inner child. There are also several great parks, or take them on a walking tour of the mineral springs and decide which is your favorite.
