My experience a Clark Atlanta University was challenging. I was not taught ways to network or connect with people. I had a hard time finding ME, what I am capable of. I felt like I was not fitted and that is okay! I was starting to feel like my parents money and extra long shifts was because of me. I begged my parents to go to this school just for me to end up unhappy with every outcome. Freshman-Junior Year I was not satisfied but still trying to hold it together. I knew this was a challenge I had to overcome because I’m better than that to just “give up”. I decided that maybe it was me but it was also the location. An environment can change your perspective in so many ways! Now it’s time to do me, with one year left in college, I want to make memories and not be miserable. Do I feel like I wasted 3 years of my life? Yes! But this is all just a learning experience. I am blessed to be accepted into FAMU and hope for the feeling I’ve always wanted within a real college/university.

At our school, financial aid and scholarships are predominantly awarded to incoming students as part of an effort to attract high-caliber applicants and support those with financial need right from the start. While this strategy helps in building a strong freshman class and offers new students a great start, it often leaves current students feeling overlooked despite their ongoing financial challenges and proven academic dedication. I believe that the school should allocate more funds to support current students who have demonstrated commitment and academic excellence throughout their tenure, ensuring they can continue their education without financial stress.

I enjoyed my first semester at Clark Atlanta University. I made great connections with students who introduced me to different organizations and community service events held on campus. A change I would like to see at Clark Atlanta is faster, efficient communication, among students and staff. In addition to, student leaders upholding class meetings, where students can express their opinions on attributes they are wanting to change or improve on campus.
